What's a Kokedama?
Literally translated from Japanese, Kokedama means moss ball. Kokedama is a form of Bonsai. Bonsai translated means potted tree and is a creative replica of a natural tree in miniature form, set in a container. The Kokedama technique puts a plant on full display in a moss ball. The process involves wrapping a plants root system in sphagnum moss, which is then covered in a special soil mixture shaped into a ball, and that is then covered by moss. Kokedamas are easy to care for, and make a dramatic statement indoors, or outdoors in a protected area like a covered patio area. They can be placed on display on a decorative plate/bowl, or hung string garden style by one of our handcrafted macramé hangers.
